YUCCA ROOT. A root vegetable, Yucca Root is hugely popular here at the Monkey Mansion. It has a waxy outer skin and the meat inside is similar in consistency to that of the meat inside a coconut, though a bit harder. The taste is very woody with a hint of sweetness. Try it, I think you’ll be surprised!
For preparation, peel the waxy skin off of just the portion you intend to feed, with a carrot/potato peeler or paring knife. Then, simply cut and serve. Pop a piece of aluminum foil over the cut end and place in a plastic baggy for storage in your crisper. It will last for at least a couple of weeks, if not longer.
