So, here we go! The fruit pictured here is called a Horned Melon. You may also see it called Kiwano or a Horned Cucumber. Horned Melons are ripe when they are orange in color, with orange spikes. If it has just turned orange, it may still be a little firm so squeeze it and see. If it gives a little bit between your fingers, it’ll taste yummy! If it’s firm, no worries. Simply wait a couple of days and it’ll be ready to go. There’s nothing special for prep, but be prepared for a messy dinner time when you feed this. The insides are jelly-like and very liquidy. Simply cut it into pieces and feed, seeds and all. If your gliders are anything like mine, they’ll demolish it and leak nothing but the rind behind when they are done!
